There are only a very few names in Mollywood who turned good directors from a start in the filmdom as scriptwriters. M T Vasudevan Nair, Padmarajan and Lohithadas top this list which have very few other successful names to add on. Recently scriptwriters like Renjan Pramod, Robin Thirumala and Renji Panikkar had tried a hand to call the shots with limited success.

Anyway, the new name to add to this list of writers will be that of T A Razaaq, who is in the final plans to start his career as a director. The senior scriptwriter, who had not been able to create one big hit in the recent times, is planning to cast Mammootty as his hero for his debut directorial move, which will have the megastar in a different role.

Interestingly, Razaaq, even with his three dozen films hasn't created a mega hit, though a few like Raappakal, Vishnulokam, Vesham and Bus conductor managed to become safe movies at the box office. Razaaq is currently busy scripting Prithviraj' movie 'Pakaram Vanna Rajavu’.
