“Love can change anyone in this world. That’s the magic of love. But there are few people who are not bothered about anything. Their characters can’t be changed at all. ‘Mandhira Punnagai’ deals with one such man,” says Karu Palaniappan, the director and the protagonist of the movie.

“Quite like my earlier films (‘Parthiban Kanavu’, ‘Pirivom Santhippom’), ‘Mandhira Punnagai’ too deals with human emotions, but in a different way,” the actor-filmmaker says and adds: “It’s about a techie who leads a carefree life without any concern for others.”

On suddenly switching over as an actor, the former journalist says, “It’s not an instant decision. Not many heroes would come forward to play the role I am playing in this film. So I decided to don the greasepaint.”

Palaniappan is all smiles about Meenakshi, his co-star in the movie. “Mandhira Punnagai will bring to light the acting talent of Meenakshi. She looks great in both sari and in modern dress. I am happy to share the screen space with her.”
