Perhaps, Anandi Art Creations movie Kurradu is losing out to reputation because of the gross misinterpretation of its subject. Reviews have slammed that the movie is all for a bike and even the initial talk was that it looks like a rip off of the drab film Ride. Nothing could be more egregious as the film has never-seen-subject. It is the remake of Dhanush-starrer Polladhavan and has the story written by Vettrimaran.

The film, to put in a nutshell, in fact is about a middle class guy who loses his favourite bank on the day of a political murder in a locality. In the process of regaining it, he needs to put up a fight for his life and family. It is grippingly told yet the audience do not find it original.

News is that it has also shads of the 1948 Italian cult movie The Bicycle Thief, which was set in the post World War-II economy. In the Italian film, an unemployed middle-aged man who is maried, has his bicycle stolen by a thief. which he seeks to get back with the help of a pawnbroker. The premise is this, but there is a world of difference between Polladhavan (and thus, Kurradu) and the Italian film. While the Indian interpretation has the hero finally emerging victorious, the Italina film is a bit tragic.
