No, But much of the film buffs must have heard about actress Kanika, who is donning a legendary character in the historical magnum opus from M T - Hariharan team ‘Pazhassi Raja’.

Yes, it is the same Divya Venkittasubrahmanaian, a Miss Chennai runner up and engg graduate who renamed herself to Kanika, when she started aiming for the stardom with the Tamil movie ‘Five Star’ produced by Mani Ratnam.

Kanika also grabbed attention with her roles in films like ‘Varalaru’ and is a known dubbing artist after dubbing for the heroine characters in ‘Anniyan’, ‘Sachin’ and ‘Shivaji’. Before her marriage which happened amidst the shoot of ‘Pazhassi Raja’, Kanika had made an attempt in Mollywood with films like ‘Ennittum’, which was not so successful.

Anyhow her second innings in Malayalam is expected to work out well as she is suddenly getting plump offers from Mollywood. Her first release in Malayalam in 2009 will be the Sathyan Anthikkad movie starring Jayaram in the lead.

She will be appearing as Daisy, a Kuttanadan beauty in this family story. Her second movie will be ‘Pazhassi Raja’, which will grace the theatres for this Onam.

Kanika is also getting busier in Tamil with films like the second part of Cheran's hit ‘Autograph’. As per the chances, she will easily emerge as a busy heroine in Mollywood, which is presently starving for quality heroines with the typical Kerala look.
