The famous story of the movie is set in the 1950's which also have the weather playing an important part. The movie which is planned to shoot at backwaters and lakes of Kaavalam, Kumarakom and Vaikkom will use the Monsoon season to can most of its scenes.

Produced by Reliance Entertainments, the movie will also feature Meera Jasmine in important roles. Shaji is planning to have the premiere of 'Kutty Sharanku' in the famous Venice film festival.

This is the first ever production by Anil Ambani's newly launched entertainment concern, Reliance Entertainment, in Malayalam.
