This was the weakest week of the year in terms of collections at the Box Office. No films except a few Kollywood releases made interesting collections, this week .The top five Malayalam films of the week are:
1. 'Cycle' - Writer James Albert and director Johny Antony made an excellent film for the youth .But the fourth week collections are not at all very interesting ,mostly due to the exams .The film may mange well ,if it can tide over one more week till the midsummer vacations. The songs of the movie, which were earlier calculated as the weakest highlights of the movie have already become good hits, by now.
2. ÂRoudram - Director Renji Panikkar and Mammootty in another branded regular stuff, manages to attract crowds in its eighth week, but in low numbers. The film with a topical subject and fiery dialogues will have to toil a little bit more, to become anywhere near a super hit. And with the arrival of the Vishu biggies in a couple of week, ÂRoudram' may remain just as an ordinary hit.
3. ÂKadha Parayumbol - In the major cities, the film has invited renewed interest from the audience. In the weekends the film is registering eighty percent collections. ÂKatha Parayumbol will soon reach its hundred days run by the end of this month.
4. ÂAnjathey' - Naren's Kollywood hit seems to be an interesting affair for malayalees too. The film is in its third week in Kerala theatres.
5. '10,000 B C' -This Warner brothers picture has opened well at major centers and is collecting much better than the fresh releases in Mollywood like ÂJubilee and ÂSalabhamÂ.
Small banner Mollywood films like ÂSalabham and ÂJubilee are finding it very hard to get the audience to run at least a couple of shows, a day. The lack of newsprint advertisements and of course outdated plots comes as a suffering to the theatres who prefers Kollywood and English movies than to run these sure non starters.
