Vanitha awards for Mammootty, Meera Jasmine

Mammootty and Meera Jasmine shared the top honors in acting, in the Vanitha Gallup poll awards that was announced yesterday. Sreenivasan's 'Katha Parayumpol' was named the best film while Sathyan Anthikkad for his excellent work in Vinodhayaathara' was selected as the best director.
The award was announced following a poll survey attended by around 75,000 readers of Vanitha, Malayala manorama anad manorama online.
Mohanlal was selected as the most popular star of 2007, with big hits like Hello and Chotta Mumbai. While Mammootty fetched top awards for his performance in 'Big B' and Ore Kadal, Meera Jasmine was selected on account of her performance in Vinodhayaathra and Ore Kadal.
The awards in the music section went to Yesudas ( Best singer -thirike Arabikkatha), Shwetha (Best female singer - Mandaarapoo mooli, Kolakuzhalvili), Anil Panachooran ( best lyricist - Arabikkatha) and for M Jayachandran (Best song- kolakkuzhalvili-Nivedhyam).
The other awards that were announced includes that for Manoj Pillai (best cinematography Arabikkatha), Sreenivasan(best screenplay_Katha Parayumpol), Suraj `Venjaramoodu (best actor in comic roles), Kalabhavan Mani (best villain- Chotta Mumbai) and Bhama (Best debut artist).
The awards will be given away on the 23rd of this month, in a colorful function that will be attended by the filmi celebrities from Tamil and Hindi cinema.
