After being with a number of roles that showcased him in usual roles, Suresh Gopi now seems to be more interested in roles that will help him to show his mettle in quality acting.

He is now on to act in a couple of offbeat films. The important one being Rajeev Nath's (National award winner for Best Director, for the Malayalam film Janani) take on the world classic Casablanca, titled in Malayalam as Ezhaam Mudra.

Suresh Gopi appears in the film as a naval doctor, as Rajeev Nath plans to recreate the magic with the Tamil Tigers as the backdrop. Mandira Bedi is now approached to enact the role immortalized by Ingrid Bergman in the original.

Another film is based on Shakespeare's Macbeth, which is an important project of the actor, next year.

The third, directed by Lenin Rajendran is based on the life of Raja Ravi Varma, one of the greatest painters in the history of the Indian Art. The film is planned to start by the next month and will get completed by the end of the year.

The star says that it will be a challenge for him to play the type of roles, like that of an artist, because it is very different from the action roles that he usually played.
