Priyamani in on a cloud nine after winning the award for the best actress for Paruthiveeran. Her portrayal as a rural belle in Paruthiveeran fetched her award. She has acted as a village girl in Balu Mahendra's Adhu Oru Kana Kalam as well.

Post Paruthiveeran, the actress has been inundated with similar roles. However she refused those and accepted the role of a city girl in Malaikottai.

The movie directed by G Bhoopathi Pandian, is a typical masala entertainer. Priyamani plays Vishal's heroine.

The actress is cast in the role of a suave urban girl and has oozed glamour in the movie.

Priyamani says, “It was my conscious decision to do urban girl's role. I believe an actress should varied types of characters. I have faith in my credentials and hope Malaikottai would rock my fans”.
