Last Onam, all the popular star's films, including Mammootty's 'Bhargavacharitram Moonam Khandam, Mohanlal's Mahasamudram, Dileep's Don, Jayaram's Aanachantham did not do well at box-office, as a small film by the young stars vigorously marketed by Lal Media captured the audience to become the biggest hit of the year.

But this year, with another thirty days for Onam, only Mohanlal's Alibhai and Suresh Gopi's Kichamani MBA are finalized to hit the screens, as the strike that MACTA initiated has put a question mark on release of films like Mammootty's Nasrani, Dileep's Calcutta News and Prithviraj's Chocolate, which were earlier planned as Onam releases.

Prithviraj who was not able to deliver anything better after Classmates is looking for another big hit in Chocolate directed by Shafi, who has a credit list of lot of hit against his name. The film is in its last stages of shooting.

Suresh Gopi had a bad year so far, but his latest Nadhiya Kollapetta Rathri has started in a good note and may rise up to become a big hit. Dileep had a hit in Vinodayatra, but it is his only major hit in past one and half years and he has also great faith on Blessy to deliver another big hit through Calcutta news, shot entirely at Kolkata.

With a debacle behind him in Mission 90 Days, Mammootty is also looking keen to get his Nasrani released this Onam. If he can't complete the film on time, he may go for Ore Kadal which is in its final stages of dubbing.

The latest news also suggests that Lohitha Das’s Naivedhyam and debutante A V Narayanan's Anthiponvettom may also grace the theatres by Onam.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal is all set with Alibhai, one of the most anticipated films of the year.

With two hits this year, he is quite safe and is looking to make a magnificent release for Alibhai, just like Sivaji which recently shocked Malayalees with its gigantic release.
