The master actor of Malluwood, Mammootty turned 55 yesterday. He was born in Vishakham Nakshatra, on a September 7, 1951. The only actor in Malluwood who has the capacity to run films solely based on his charisma, the actor has been a regular strength in Malayalam for the last 25 years.

Debuting in Devalokam in the year 1981, he has created half a dozen hits every year, thereafter. After becoming the biggest star in Malayalam, his selection of roles has always been a matter of discussion. He has appeared as almost every type of character below the sun and has earned lot of award and accolades for his endeavors at national and international levels. He is the only actor from the Malluwood who had made a name in every southern language.

Of late, he is in the sets of Pothen Vava, a film in which he is associating with his longtime pal and director Joshy. He has got a beeline of Projects behind his sleeves which may make him the busiest star even till 2010. The immediate of his release will be Karutha Pakshikal, Mayavi, Ore Kadal and Payyamvelly Chanthu.
