Kamal Haasan's Dasavatharam kicked off recently at Uthandi at East Coast Road.

Initially the shooting was supposed to begin at an ancient temple at Darasuram near Kumbakonam. But the producer Oscar Ravichandran opted out as he did not want to conduct the shoot in a place where several thousands regularly turn up.

Hence director K S Ravikumar decided put up a huge set resembling Darasuram temple at Uthandi. Acclaimed art-director Samir Chanda came up with huge sets that resembled the temple well at Uthandi.

Amazed by its looks, both Kamal Haasan and Ravi Kumar heaped praises on Samir Chanda. Now a major portion of the movie would be shot at Uthandi.

Dasavatharam has big names like cinematographer Jeeva, Bollywood music composer Himesh Reshammiya, writer Sujatha and dialogue writer Crazy Mohan coming together.

Meanwhile countdown for Kamal Haasan's Vettaiyaadu Villaiyaadu release has begun. In less than 24 hours, the much-awaited movie featuring Jyothika opposite him will hit the screens. Directed by Gowtham Menon and produced by Manickam Narayanan, the movie is a suspense thriller.
