Even before his maiden Tamil venture Poi directed by K Balachander could hit the theatres, Telugu star Uday Kiran has managed to set his foot firm in Kollywood.

With Poi ready for release, the actor has signed on the dotted line to play the hero in another Tamil movie titled Vambu Sandai.

The movie features Sathyaraj in the lead role and Uday Kiran plays the second fiddle to him.

Says Uday, ‘I have a good role in this film. And I have the opportunity to work with Sathyaraj from whom I have a lot to learn. Also director Rajkapoor has been a big help.’ Vambu Sandai is about a man (Uday Kiran) who seems to have a knack of inviting problems. Sathyaraj is an upright election officer. He questions the activities of a political group and the developments make him lose his mental balance. How he is treated by the youth and returns to normal is the story.

Uday, on a low in Telugu, needs to make the most out of this break in Tamil.
