M.A.Nishad, the producer of films like Gandhiyan, Dreams and Oraal Maathram is turning to direction. He will direct the venture produced by Santhaosh Mathai and Biju John in the banner of Cinema movies. The film titled as 'Pakal' will feature Prithviraj in the lead.

The film will tell a story based on the increasing number of suicides that Kerala is witnessing in the villages of the high ranges, following bankruptcy and losses in agriculture. The film will be scripted by Susmesh Chandroth who has recently won prizes in the D.C. Books Novel competition.

The film will also feature Thilakan, Jagadeesh and Thalaivasal Vijay. The music section of the film will be handled by Girish Puthenchery and M.G.Radhakrishnan. The film will also bring back the ace cameraman Vipin Mohan into business after a short break, following his entry into directorship.
