A noted playback singer and mother of actor Vijay, Shobha Chandrasekhar rendered a Carnatic music concert in Chennai on Sunday that was attended by classical music lovers.

Having learnt Carnatic music in the last few years, it was the maiden concert of Shobha Chandrasekhar. She performed for over an hour.

Later at a function held at the venue to felicitate her, actor Vijay said, 'She has made everyone of us proud. She has proved that age is no barrier to learn new things in life. I am a great admirer of my mother's talents'.

Shobha Chandrasekhar, on her behalf, thanked her Gurus for helping her to perform with ease in front of such big crowds.

It's not an easy joke to perform in front of such a big and knowledgeable crowd and all credit should go to them for it, she added.

It may be added that Shobha had recently released a Carnatic music collection sung by her.
