Karan's maiden hero venture Kokki released last week has been witnessing a steady crowd bringing joy to the whole cast and crew. However screening a particular song sequence which was denied permission by the Censor Board has landed a theatre owner and the producers and director of Kokki in trouble.

The Central Crime Branch of Chennai Police on Tuesday arrested Venkatesan, working as an operator in a cinema theatre at Kilpauk for allegedly screening the censored portions of Tamil film, Kokki. Police are on the look out for theatre owner Ramanathan and four others alleged to have been responsible for screening the censored part of the film.

After receiving a complaint from Varadharajan, member, Censor Board, that some of scenes of Kokki that were debarred by the Board were incorporated later on in the film after issuing the certificate and being shown in that theatre. Earlier,Varadharajan had visited the theatre twice and was shocked to find the censored scenes were being shown to the viewers on both the occasions. Confirming that obscene scenes were being shown at the theatre, he had lodged a complaint with the CCB for taking necessary action against the theatre owners.

A police team led by Assistant Commissioner Lakshminathan raided the theatre and arrested the film operator red handed when the objectionable scenes were being screened. Cases were being filed against the producer and director.
