No critics have ever predicted a better future for the dark lean female lead in 'Mayookham', once the film had failed miserably in the box office. But the actress was to prove her critics wrong in a very short spell. And now, Mamta Mohandas is climbing the chart of favorites in a million of hearts with her rave performances.

Mamta started the year opposite Mammootty in the hit 'Bus conductor'. But the film that raked applause for her was the portrayal of Lankalakshmi in the Suresh Gopi film 'Lanka'. A plot set to some intimate melodrama and a 3 minute kissing scene climax, the film bestowed Mamta with more than she expected.

Eventhough the film did not do well in the box office, her persuit for excellence and acting in a meaty glamorous role was well appreciated.

The filmgoers was fascinated to finally discover someone who don't deny 'showing herself' in mallu films, apart from her counterparts.

The next movie to follow was the Jayaram starrer 'Madhuchandralekha' which is creating good reviews in theatres at present.

The next project of Mamta is with Other superstar of Malayalam Mohanlal, in Keerti Chakra. Having acted with all the top stars in Malayalam Mamta is getting a plenty of calls from Tamil, and has finally agreed to do two movies in Tamil amd Telugu, But is insisting on acting only on deglamorised roles. what a change of events?
