The month of March is proving to be a lean period for Malayalam films. Four films which were released during this month couldn't find decent initials while the only saving grace left was the great opening of Kilukkam Kilukilukkam - the sequel to one of the greatest hits 'Kilukkam'.

The Suresh Gopi starrer Lanka, was the first one that sank without trace. Even with good critical applause, Vargam the Prithviraj starrer is not showing much promise to become a hit. Ravanan- the Kalabhavan Mani starrer may breakeven as it was made in a shoe string budjet. Mukesh starrer Chirattakalippattangal could not stay in the theatres even for a week.

The sad fate of films are mostly attributed to the exam seasons and the increasing releases that appeared from Tamil.,eventhough none of them could hold the audience for more than two weeks.
