Arthi Agarwal, who is in a state of coma after suffering head injuries and is undergoing treatment in Apollo Hospitals, will undergo further tests today.

A CT Scan is to be taken today and the doctors are keeping their fingers crossed on her condition. She is in the ICU and was operated upon yesterday (for three hours) to remove a blood clot in the brain. She has also suffered multiple fractures. Doctors at the hospital say that she is critical as her clot spread to other parts.

Arthi had allegedly fallen from a staircase in her Banjara Hills apartment around 11 pm on Wednesday night. But was taken to the hospital only by Thursday afternoon.

Arthi’s father Shashank Agarwal has been quoted as saying that Arthi was in a conscious state and spoke to the doctor upon being brought to the hospital. But the doctors say otherwise. She was unconscious, one doctor confirmed to this reporter yesterday.

Shashank is maintaining that Arthi slipped and fell while climbing the stairs leading to her bedroom. ‘It was an accidental slip and we saw her hold her hands. Initially, we took it to be a minor concussion as looked okay. She took some painkillers.

But when she woke on Thursday, she complained of severe pain in the head. Our family physician was summoned and it was he who suggested that we take her to the hospital.’

The police have not registered any case as they also seem to go with the theory of it being an accident.

Arthi is currently acting in Andala Ramudu. Her last release was last year’s Sankranthi.
