Actor Vijay has denied rumors that he would be joining DMK.

The air has been thick with reports that the actor, who has a large fan following, would take a political plunge and would join DMK.

Interestingly, he took part in a stamp release function at New Delhi where he received the first stamp from Prime Minister in the presence of Central Ministers from Tamilnadu.

He also featured in a programme in DMK-owned Sun TV where he was interviewed by Dayanidhi Maran (a Union Minister, no less. Perhaps this was the first time a Minister was interviewing a filmstar for the first time on prime time TV).

But Vijay, a quiet man off the screen, has a sardonic smile to the rumors floating around him.

When asked whether he would really take the plunge, Vijay said, ' I am averse to politics. I know nothing about it.'

‘I consider it a great opportunity to take part in the stamp release function and receive the stamp from than hands of Prime Minister. Since I had reached Delhi early, I had a casual chat with Dayanidhi Maran, which was televised and shown on Sun TV. It just happened'.

But he was categorical when he said: ‘I love films and it is my passion for now’.

Vijay’s Pongal release Aathi is doing brisk business.
