Kamal Haasan's passion for technical innovation is widely known.

His Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu directed by Gowtham Menon is perhaps the first movie in Tamil to be shot in 35mm format, a wide screen presentation. It was hitherto used for several Hollywood films.

A major chunk of the movie was completed in America including a few songs featuring Kamal and Jyothika.

The movie is all about an Indian International Agent on the trail of a criminal.

Speaking about the film, producer Manickam Narayanan of the Seventh Channel, said, 'it was sheer accident that I ended up as the producer of the movie. It was indeed a pleasant surprise for me. I am sure that this movie would be another feather in the cap of Kamal'.

It may be recalled that Kamal Haasan's Kuruthi Punal introduced DTS sound technology to Tamil cinema and today it has become a craze. Now with Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu, he is bringing with him 35mm format.
