Kerala's ace superstar Mohanlal Sunday said that Malayalam films were on a comeback trail with more and more films becoming hits.

"This is a revival of the industry. The signs are very good because a few mega production houses like Century and Seven Arts have again begun producing films," Mohanlal told reporters here.

Another reason for cheer is that the films of superstars Mammootty, Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi and Dileep released last month have all become major hits.

Mohanlal denied that he had any role in sidelining veteran thespian actor Thilakan from the industry.

"I have no role in that. What I have understood is that it was on account of Thilakan's failing health that he kept away from acting.

"Differences of opinion in the industry here can always be solved," said Mohanlal.

Mohanlal said he was looking forward to the remake of "Sholay" by Ram Gopal Varma in which he was slated to play Sanjeev Kumar's role.

He rated Bharath Gopi, Nedumudi Venu and Mammootty as among the best actors in Mollywood.

Mohanlal is currently wrapping up his latest film "Thanmatra", directed by award winning film director Blessy who had directed Mammootty in the hit "Kazhcha" last year.
