Call it mere publicity stunt to grab attention during this election or mindless buffoonery, two politicians of late has hit headlines with their audacious remarks against anti-rape law. Samjawadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and member Abu Azmi were of views that anti-rape laws were not necessary and women who are raped are also guilty. They also were opinion that boys will be boys and they will make mistakes but they should not be punished severely by giving death sentence and also, women who have sex with or without consent are entitled to be punished as well. The entire nation, especially women, are shocked over these politicians’ statements. Even B-town took on social media, expressing their disgust and anger on this issue.

One who is most bothered is actress Ayesha Takia Azmi, also the daughter in law of Abu Azmi. Peeved with his comments, she tweeted: " If what I'm reading about my father-in-law's statements is true then me and Farhan are deeply embarrassed and ashamed... We surely do not share this mindset... It's disrespectful to women. If these statements are true then it's sad."

Vir Das: "Abu Azmi.....What a steaming pile of horseshit... I'm sorry... I know this isn't funny... I didn't think he deserved a punchline."

Farhan Akhtar: "Cannot get over MS Yadav's comment on rapists- 'Boys will be boys.. They make mistakes'. It's pathetic! Abu Azmi meanwhile, wants to hang women who willingly have sex. I think he needs to hang up his boots & seek medical attention ASAP."

Arjun Rampal: "The comments by our political giants on rape victims is down right appalling. Let those boys make the same mistakes on their mothers and sisters.

Kamaal R Khan: "Mulayam said boys should not be punished if they rape girls and Abu Azmi said that girls should be hanged if they have sex. They are mentally sick people. Women should attack and throw stones on houses of SP leaders all over India to teach them lesson so they will learn to respect women."

Rakhi Sawant: "Mulayam Singh Yadav must be Voted out for #BackingRapists Thats why i say Women like me needs to be in Parliament for making strong laws. Mulayam Singh Yadav agar Member of Parliament baan bhi jaye toh kya Ukhad lenge. Aurate unke khilaf Vote dae aur Sabak sikhaye. CM thae, unki sarkar hai; tab toh woh koi Kanoon nahi banaya. Mulayam Singh Yadav ji Aurat kae baare mae kya Sochte hai?"

Divya Dutta: "But with no bias why is everyone slapping Kejriwal! Why don't they dare it with a few others?"

Sanjay Gupta: "Mulayam Singh and Abu Azmi. Regressive, redundant and retarded thinking. Absolute shame! Are they looking for votes of rapists?"

At an event Vidya Balan stated: "Capital punishment is a very contentious issue but it is the worst of crimes that should not be pardoned. I completely disagree with anyone who says that 'boys will be boys, they will make mistakes."
