Prisoner dies of COVID; 217 other inmates tests positive

Recently, we had reported that several prisoners from Kerala's Poojappura central prison tested positive for COVID-19. On Sunday, a jail inmate named Manikandan (72) who was first diagnosed with the deadly virus died. The prisoner, who got the virus through contact with a visitor, fainted inside the jail. Following which he underwent COVID-19 test and was declared positive.

For the past three days all the other prisoners and jails staff were subjected to test. On Sunday it was reported that 217 including prisoners and staff tested positive for the disease. All of them are admitted to a special treatment centre arranged inside the Poojappura prison. It is reported that all the 975 inmates at Poojappura central prison will be subjected to coronavirus tests in the coming days.
