The Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah unveiled the statue of Dr Rajakumar icon of Kannada cinema and inaugurated the memorial on Saturday morning in the presence of Tamil super star Rajanikanth, Telugu mega star Chiranjeevi, Smt Parvathamma Rajakumar and other cabinet colleagues.

Karnataka chief minister offered flower petals while Nandadeepa` 24x7 lamp at Dr Rajakumar Memorial was lighted by Smt Parvathamma Rajakumar with fourth generation of actor from the family Vinay Rajakumar assisting his grandmother. The popular song at the family functions was rendered at this time of lighting the lamp.

With colourful stage on one side the road inside the Kanteerava studio was meant for guests to drive in and reach Dr Rajakumar Memorial. First to come was Ratha Yathre` that started from Dr Rajakumar birthplace Gajanur of Chamarajanagara district and the torch was brought at the memorial place around 10.30 am.

Raj Ratha Yathra collected signature of 90000 people for donation of eyes. The slogan it contained was Nethra Dhana Maha Dhana – Kannadave Sathya Kannadave Nithya`.

Only the guest`s names on the invitation were allowed near the inauguration of Dr Rajakumar Memorial.

It was a very tight security arrangement from Karnataka state police controlled the fans entering the memorial in the morning.
