Renowned producer of Kannada cinema K Manju has made a mild attack on the multiplex culture of giving up Kannada films in Karnataka and providing ample opportunity to non Kannada films.
As a distributor of 'Romeo' he has seen some irregularities in the multiplex functioning as for as Kannada films are concerned. I agree that multiplexes should exist and provide good ambience to the audience. It should not be at the cost of foregoing Kannada films.
K Manju says the films of top stars like golden star Ganesh are not accommodated when he inquired for releasing in more theatres. When 'Romeo' got released 'Eega' and a few other Tamil, English and Hindi films got priorities. The multiplex people living here in Karnataka use the water, land and electricity of our state. They should mend their ways and give utmost prominence to Kannada films he pointed. Other languages get more theatres than Kannada in Kannada Nadu. This is very wrong says K Manju. For 'Rome' I have got some more theatres instead of 80 theatres in the first week it would have fetched Rs.50 lakhs more for producers feels K Manju.
At one point producer of over 35 films in Kannada told that he would take up the issue with Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce and Kannada Film Producers Association.
