Devasthanam belongs to the class of parallel cinema. Directed by Janardhana Maharshi, the film stars 'Kalatapasvi' Vishwanath and SPB in the lead roles. Amani plays a major character. The film was released in the US on March 29. The director is happy that it has had good openings everywhere.

Owing to the respect and awe that the names of KV and SPB evoke in all culturally-proud Teluguites in the US, Devasthanam is being appreciated for its content as well as musical output. While the film would be released in Andhra Pradesh in the second week of this month, the makers are quite happy that it is being patronised by Telugu people in that country.

Amani, who acted in Shubha Sankalpam, is happy to have shared screen space with the director (KV) and the producer (SPB) of that film.

"Every scene in Devasthanam has been shot in the backdrop of one temple or another," the makers say. Swara Veenapani is the music director.
