S Ramachandra is no more

At the early of the year 2011 Kannada film industry received a big shock on Monday afternoon with the demise of the highly ranked cameraman S Ramachandra departure from this earth. S Ramachandra was suffering from lung cancer that was at the initial stage. With great difficulty he saw his last film ‘Bettada Jeeva’ that was directed by P Seshadri. The other film S Ramachandra worked recently is ‘Prarthane’ directed by Sadashiva Shenoy.

S Ramachandra in the career of 30 years as very efficient cameraman showed his mettle in every film he stood before the camera. An able torch bearer to the younger generation of technicians S Ramachandra wielded the camera for nearly 80 films besides working for ‘Malgudi Days’.

For most of the Dr Girish Kasravalli films starting from Ghatashradda the expertise of S Ramachandra was utilized. Mane, Krourya, Naayi Neralu, Haseena, Gulabi Talkies of Dr Girish Kasaravalli the craftsmanship of this cameraman was admired.

Chomana Dudi, Pallavi, Grahana, Akramana, Kankana, Rushya Shringa, Anveshane, Banker Margayya, Santha Shishunala Sharief, Gandharva Giri, Hombisilu, Bettale Seve, Nya Geddithu, Mudhudidha Tavara Aralithu are other films of Ramachandra ranked well. He was the state award winner for five times. He has worked for Malgudi Days of late Shanker Nag. He was active participant in the cinematographers association.

S Ramachandra leaves behind innumerable fans of his fraternity, wife Meenakshi, daughters Chaitra and Varsha.

The cremation of the doyen in the cinematography S Ramachandra was held at Banashanker crematorium on Sunday night.
