The Tamil Film Producers Council has hailed Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for coming forward to give his remuneration for penning the script of the movie ÂIlaignan (Rs 45 lakh) to the newly constituted board for the welfare of differently-abled persons.
In a statement, TFPC president Rama Narayanan said, ÂThis is not the first time for the Chief Minister to donate the salary he received for working in films. The payments from ÂMannin Maindhan and ÂUliyin Osai were given to workers in the film industry.Â
He added: ÂAnd now, Kalaignar has come forward to donate the remuneration from ÂIlaignan to the board for the welfare of the differently abled. This shows his kind-heartedness. He is a living Valluvar, a legend beyond comparison.Â
The Producers Council president, while saying that the films in which Karunanidhi had worked should become super hits, added: ÂThe TFPC wants the Chief Minister to continue his services in the film industry for more than 100 years from now.Â
