Two Kannada films which were the cans for more than two years Samagama and Preethiya Theru are to be released just before Sankranthi. For the Sankranthi-Pongal festival two big films Porkhi (made in Rs.7 crores by producer first time producer Datatreya Bache Gowda) starring challenging star Darshan and Praneetha and Suryakanthi (made in Rs.4 crores by first time producers Vasu and Sujatha BN) starring Chetan and Regina are hitting the screens. For Pongal Porkhi the remake of a multilingual hit film directed by MD Sridhar and an original Kannada film Suryakanthi by Aa Dinagalu fame director KM Chaitanya are in the fray.
This Friday release Samagama from the banner of Sri Sai Innovators is jointly produced Andhani Gowda, Sampathkumar, Prasad Anandkumar, Chandrasekhar, Shashikumar. Andhani Gowda is also writer and he has penned the screenplay and dialogues for this film. New director Kasthuri Jagannath has directed the film. The budget of the film increased from 80 lakhs to Rs.1.50 crores. This film was filmed in Mysore. Cinematography by Suresh Babu and Music Kiran picks two lovely lyrics written by writer Subraya Chokkadi.
Preethiya Theru is by S Lokesh Reddy of Vijayalakshmi Films International. Prasad handles story, screenplay and music besides direction of the film. Malavalli Saikrishna has penned the dialogues. In the lead are Thanil, Madhumitha, Rachana Mourya, Kokila Sadhu, Dharma, Ashwini, Sonia Malathi Sardeshpande, Mico Nagaraj, MN Lakshmi Devi, Bank Janardhan and others.
