The South Asian Cinema Foundation’s Excellence in Cinema Crystal Globe Award – 2009 was given to reputed director of the country Girish Kasaravalli at Nehru Center in London on Tuesday for ‘Gubali Talkies’. India’s high commissioner in UK Nalin Surie presented the award to Girish Kasaravalli.

Girish Kasaravalli felt extremely happy to receive the honor on his first visit to London. Five of the films of Girish Kasaravalli – Ghatashraddha (1977), Dweepa (2003), Haseena (2005) Naayi Nerali (2006), and Gulabi Talkies (2008) were screened at Waterman, West of London.

Meanwhile Girish Kasaravalli joins the big league of Adoor Gopalakrishnan, MS Sathyu and Saeed Akthar Mirza as all of them received ‘Crystal Globe Award’ in the past.
