The latest buzz doing rounds in Tamil film industry is that Ajith has chosen to do the remake of blockbuster Malayalam movie Kireedam that featured Mohanlal in the lead role.

Vijayan and, son of a Tamil producer A L Alagappan and an associate of director Priyadarshan is slated to direct the movie. Kireedam was a movie that redefined Malayalam cinema. It was about a youth whose hopes and aspirations are shattered by a combination of fate and human failing.

The movie explores how society typecasts individuals and forces them to act that part whether they like it or not. The word 'Kireedam' means crown in Malayalam.

The movie was directed by Sibi Malayil with script by Lohitha Das. Featured Mohanlal, Thilakan, Parvathy and Jagathy Sreekumar in the lead roles.
