Heavily illuminated sets, lot's of artists dressed in extravagant dancing attire...and as usual a lot of colors. Here the camera roles down on a crane to find the hero, illustriously dressed, trinklet clad, in the midst of an array of dancers. And when the shot moves on, we see the hero leading the dance classes to perfection...............this could be the opening shot of a film of any dancing heroes of India, but definitely not Mammootty. But in Thuruppu Ghulan -the latest flick in the making-Mammootty is giving life to a character whose multitude of interests includes dancing.
Mammootty, in his ever time heights in his 25 year old career, delivering 11 hits in a row, finds this is the right time to prove his critics wrong on his dancing abilities. Thuruppu Ghulan, carries an entire song with the star giving fairly difficult steps amidst, fast beats , after a long time.
The master actor was Sen too involved in the sets of the film in Ernakulam, making his steps to rise above the initial inhibitions, throwing his legs thoroughly to beats, rectifying and finally delivering with exuberance.'The character in the film, Ghulan Kunjumon, starts from the new images of a thoroughly flexible Mammootty projected in his recent hits like Raajamanikyam. The film is banking on a lot of humor, without being a wholly slapstick, and is all about making fun of bad dancers and quick fix love formulas and some good action..'says Johny Antony, director of the film.
At the same time, the star's latest mega hit Raajamanikyam is busily ranking in the box office proving to be the highest collected film in Mollywood. Having already crossed a collection of around 14 crores, this money spinner still holds sixty percent collections in 12 theatres in the state, aven after 125 days. what a time to experiment.......
