Kalpana Lajmi is one director who has made women centric films over a period of time and has tried to give out a message in each of them. Most attempts have been successful. She once again promises to come back with a yet another women centric film with Rekha and Priyaka Chopra. The film is titled Devdasi.

The film is about the condition and plight of young girls married off to Gods in the native India. The plight begins only after they attain a certain age.

So one can definitely expect high voltage drama and sensitive performances with a flow of emotions in this film. The film is kept on hold until 100% finance is not arranged. She has learnt this lesson while making Chingari. She found the experience terribly exhausting and painful.

She wants to continue with making films on subjects that she feels strongly for. The female lead of any film that she makes will never be a doll to attract viewers.
