"Sun Raha Hai Na Tu Ro Raha Hoon Mein".... That's exactly what Ankit Tiwari would be singing of late.... The popular singer, who shot to fame with his songs in ‘Aashiqui 2’ has been arrested for allegedly raping his girlfriend, while his brother Ankur was booked for threatening her.

The 28-year old singer was yesterday was taken into custody by Versova Police, following the complaint for the lady, a 28-year old advertising professional, that Tiwari had raped her on several occasions. Said a police official in an interview, "We registered an FIR in March, and after verifying evidence, arrested him on Thursday."

Story do far is that the woman, a divorcee, had met Ankit in 2012 through common friend and had become thick friends in course of the years. Once during a party the singer alleged to have asked her to take alcohol and later raped her. When she confronted him, Ankit said to have made an emotional drama of promising her to marry her soon. However he duped her and didn’t even turn up at register office for marriage. Meanwhile when Ankit’s brother came to know about their affair, he threatened the victim with a knife and asked her to put an end to the relationship.

On the other hand, Ankit and Ankur’s lawyer defended them saying that the lady instead had betrayed them and made a fake story. The lawyer also stated that the lady hid her divorcee status as well as the fact that she has a 13-year old daughter. All these had shocked Ankit and so when he had asked her to end their relationship, the lady started threatening him.
