It is time to stop compiling collections and just enjoy the show. If the weekend collections of 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' promised a Superhit status for the Karan Johar production, the weekdays have set the stage for the film to enter the Blockbuster arena.
The unbelievable has happened, what with the over 40 crores coming in between Monday to Thursday after this Ayan Mukerji directed affair enjoyed a 62 crore weekend. With first week collections in the upwards of 108 crores*, the film is on a record breaking spree.
Suddenly, the comparison is not with the other 100 crore successes but with the top Khan, Salman, who has three films around the 150 crore mark (Dabangg, Dabangg 2, Bodyguard) and one near-double century (Ek Tha Tiger).
Since Ranbir has already scored a century last year (Barfi!), Karan has an 'Agneepath' to his name which crossed the 120 crore mark and Deepika started the year with a century too (Race 2), the combination has turned out to be as enviable as it gets.
The question now is the distance that the film would cover from this point on. A milestone of 150 crore is pretty much in the reach unless 'Yamla Pagla Deewana 2' turns out to be such a smash entertainer that it gives some dent in its run.
However with not much competition in the week that follows (Fukrey, Ankur Arora Murder Case), Team 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' can well expect to find itself in the zone of Top-5 box office earners of the current times, if not Top-3.
