'Joker' turns out to be a major flop

After a very poor opening, there was no respite whatsoever for 'Joker' which continued to nosedive on weekdays. In fact it was pretty much on a free fall and the signs were visible on its first Sunday itself when there was not much growth for the film.
With weekdays going to even lower levels than the opening Friday (which in any case was pretty low), the writing was clear on the wall. 'Joker' has now turned out to be a huge flop with first week collections standing at a mere 20 crores.
Whatever that could go wrong with 'Joker' happened in case of this film and to state them here all over would be repeating the obvious. However the makers just hoped against hope that there may be a miraculous turnaround.
That didn't happen and with audience just not stepping in to check what the film was all about, it was time for obituaries to be written in quickest possible time.
In fact so low were the collections towards the end of the week that 'Ek Tha Tiger', which was in it's third week, was registering much better occupancy than 'Joker' which was playing on a much larger number of screens.
'Raaz 3' is now running in theatres while 'Joker' hardly has any shows reserved for it in its second week. There aren't expectations of much being added to the total of 20 crores, which means the film would be forgotten sooner than one would have expected.
Other releases of the week, 'I Am 24', 'From Sydney With Love' and 'Jalpari', fared even worse and are out and out disasters with even their combined collections failing to reach the 1 crore mark.
