For quite some time there has been news floating around how production of 'Rock the Shaadi' has indeed been rocked due to budgetary issues. Though no one associated with the film had made an official statement as yet, there has been buzz in the trade circles that the film has gone over-budget. Now the latest is that the Abhay Deol-Genelia D'Souza starrer has been pushed indefinitely and won't be arriving this year at least.
"It was way back in November last year when 'Rock The Shaadi' was last shot. Post that Ekta Kapoor had a word with her co-producers (iRock) and director Navdeep Singh (of 'Manorama-Six Feet Under') to talk about the excess spent (in the tune of Rs. 1.5 crore) on the film. There were renewed plans for the film's shoot but not much has been revealed about the progress made on the film ever since then", informs a source.
While Abhay Deol has busied herself with the shoot of Prakash Jha's 'Chakravyuha', Genelia D'Souza is enjoying her post marital bliss. Meanwhile Ekta Kapoor is continuing to focus on her many other films which are under production as well as her television assignments.
"All eyes are now on her 'Kya Super Kool Hai Hum' which is all set to release in August. Next in the pipeline is one of her biggest films till date, 'Shoot At Wadala' which would arrive in January next year. The way things stand today, 'Rock The Shaadi' won't arrive before these two films. Abhay and Genelia would have to wait", the source adds.
As per insiders, 'Rock The Shaadi' is currently being pitched for February release. Given the fact that Valentines Day falls in that month, chances are that this vampire comedy may be pitched for the lovey-dovey season.
"Let's see if that indeed happens", a trade source adds, "Ekta's other co-production 'Lootera' has been already delayed due to Ranveer Singh's back injury and is now aiming for March arrival. With 'Shootout...' in January and 'Lootera' in March, it may be too much for her team to squeeze in 'Rock The Shaadi' in between."
