'Players' has been rejected, and how. Even though the film had suffered a poor weekend, there was still a faint hope of some revival at the least since the word of mouth wasn't all that negative. However all such hopes were totally quashed as the weekdays hardly showed any improvement and saw a further slide in collections. Resultantly, the film pretty much folded shop after a terrible first week seeing merely 22 crore coming in.

What further establishes the film's poor run is the fact that the collections here are a few lakhs lesser than Abhishek Bachchan's last release 'Dum Maaro Dum' which had arrived at far lesser print count. An unfortunate outing for Abbas-Mustan who had spent maximum moolah ever on a film of theirs ever since they came into limelight two decades ago with 'Baazigar', they would be now be quickly moving on to 'Race 2' and hoping that they can erase this experience from their mind.

The ones who are least impacted are Bobby Deol (who never had any stakes in the film to begin with) and Bipasha Basu (who did see some good words coming her way and has now quickly moved on to 'Jodi Breakers'). For Abhishek this is indeed a jolt though he has a potential success round the corner in 'Bol Bachchan'. For Sonam this is yet another poor outing after 'Mausam' and she would be praying that her newer choice of films offer her a better placement. As for Neil Nitin Mukesh, he would take consolation from some decent appreciation coming his way and would aim at building on from this point on.

However as far as 'Players' is concerned, it is a lost cause and won't even benefit from a three week open run which earlier seemed quite lucrative for it's extended run. It may just about manage to touch 30 crore mark but that's about it.
