Though Priyanka Chopra was pretty much challenging Kareena Kapoor for the numero uno spot not too many moons back, unsuccessful films like '7 Khoon Maaf', 'What's Your Raashee?' and 'Pyaar Impossible' coupled with Katrina Kaif's sustained run had made many bring out their daggers in open. Even though 'Anjaana Anjaani' had done moderately well, she was presumed to be under tremendous pressure to deliver a big success, something that she eventually managed with 'Don 2'.
"Priyanka was deeply hurt when '7 Khoon Maaf' didn't work," says a friend of the actress, "Not just did she feel that the film deserved better, she also closely observed how many out there were trying to pull her down. Suddenly it seemed that the National award for 'Fashion' or hits like 'Kaminey' and 'Dostana' were forgotten just because a couple of her films hadn't done well at the box office. She didn't wish to react but talks about her being in or out of the number game was just unwarranted," says a close associate.
Now that 2011 has ended on a positive note for her with 'Don 2' crossing the 100 crore milestone and 'Agneepath' all set to repeat the feat, Priyanka is finding herself in a much more comfortable zone.
"'Agneepath' is an amazing movie and I have worked as hard in it as all other films of mine, whether it is a '7 Khoon Maaf' or an 'Anjaana Anjaani'. I am grateful that 'Agneepath' is arriving with so much buzz and expectations. Fingers crossed," says Priyanka.
Directed by Karan Malhotra, 'Agneepath' releases all over on 26th January.
