It has spread everywhere… All are under its “murderous” fever…. Its what they call the “happening” and “in” thing… We are talking about the south track “Why This Kolaveri Di?” which has taken the entire nation by storm. The single track from Tamil film ‘3’ is not only ruling the south chartbusters but also found its way among Northern counterparts.

For those who are still trying to figure out about this most-hyped song, then let we give you some gyaan (information) on this… Superstar Rajinikanth’s daughter Aishwarya Dhanush is coming out with her directorial debut with film ‘Moondru’ (3), starring her hubby Dhanush, a National Award winner, and Shruti Hassan.

The team released a single track - “Why This Kolaveri Di?” which is in fact written and sung by Dhanush himself while the music is composed by a very young, just out of his teen Anirudh, who is debuting as a composer with this one.

Now coming to the meaning of the song… “Why This Kolaveri Di?” literally means “Why this Murderous Rage?” or in other words “Why did you do this to me?” Called as Soup Song, this song is actually meant for the guys who have met with love failure. When Dhanush was asked to write a song, he didn’t know how to go about it. It was made at a spur of the moment – without any plan or any written lyrics. With only a tune at hand, Dhanush cooked up the track with a funny twist, using Tanglish (Tamil and English) – all this in ten minutes.

Revealed the actor in an interview, “The song is about a guy who has been dumped by the girlfriend. He is drunk and he is singing. But the director wanted the lines to be really funny. I did not know how to write a song about a guy who has just been dumped in a funny way. I did not think. It just came to me.”

Be it radio or social networking site, this musical rage has hit one and all, young and old. The song which released only few days back, has already notched up more than 3 million hits. According to a Sony Music statement, seldom has any song created such a craze with over 8.2 M links shared on networking sites in less than a week. Besides, this track that is being featured on M TV is gaining more popularity among the television watching folk as well.

Dhanush who is currently basking in the success of his single track has gained national coverage as well as accolades from celebrities all over the country. While Dhanush’s father-in-law Rajini is quiet thrilled over the song getting such an overwhelming response, the Superstar’s friend, megastar Amitabh Bachchan is also acknowledging the song’s success. “Just heard #Kolaveri after much talk on it ... its so original and catchy ..congrats Dhanush and Aishwarya(Rajni's daughter) .. love,” had tweeted Big B.

While singer Shreya Ghoshal tweeted, "Finally heard! Aiyyo! I lou! Hittu!! Soopera!..... This Kolaveri Di is super nice. 8shakes head n sings along." Screen beauty Neha Dhupia too shared similar views by writing - "Have shown tremendous restraint by not listening to #Kolaveri even once all morning...."

Dhanush, who is aspiring to become director some day, interestingly wants to give his first shot in Bollywood. Revealing that he has always been passionate about direction, Dhanush said, “I want my first project to be in Hindi and I am scripting my venture now and it will go on floors next year. I want to start from the bottom like any other debutant and the film will be a fantasy adventure.”

Coming back to ‘3’, the movie is said to be a simple yet a fresh take on romance and if all goes well, Aishwarya Dhanush will remake the venture in Hindi!

Well, till then folks, sing-u along-u with-uu Kolaveri….!
