'Murder 2' and 'Chillar Party' release this week and the irony of the situation is that while former is an out and out adult flick, latter is an out and out children's film. However this doesn't mean that due to contrasting genres, 'Chillar Party' could breathe easy and start believing that it would have a home run. That's because kid movies come with a history in Bollywood and 'Chillar Party' doesn't seem anything exceptional that would change this history.
Of course the makers have tried to promote it to the fullest and involvement of names like Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor have ensured added credibility too. Still, that hasn't helped the film enough to make it reach to the top of one's wish-list. Yet again one can expect only restricted audience for the film and it would be a surprise if 'Chillar Party' sees over 30% footfalls for itself.
On the other hand 'Murder 2' hasn't been on a free-for-all ride either. While one would have expected that the franchise factor would help this Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez film to ensure enough hype prior to it's release, surprisingly that hasn't quite happened with audience expected to take a wait and watch approach. Music of the film, though pleasant, hasn't turned into a rage while Jackie's unabashed body display too may start igniting some fire only after audience word of mouth starts spreading.
As of now, this Mohit Suri directed flick should open in the 50% range and then show gradual progress in days to come. While 'Delhi Belly' is expected to challenge this Bhatt affair over the opening weekend, 'Murder 2' can expect a sustained run in it's second week as well since it would have to contend with only 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara'. And of course if 'Murder 2' actually turns out to be a hard hitting volatile erotic affair as has been heavily publicised, it may just surprise by turning out to be much bigger than it currently seems.
