King Khan Shahrukh And his company Red Chillies Entertainment has decided to preserve Indian classics and his first move has resulted in the documentary of Indias most magnificent magnum opus till date Mughal-e-Azam. The documentary shows how the classic film Mughal-e-Azam was transformed from black and white to colour and preserved for future generations.
The documentary was an initiative by K. Asif's son, Akbar Asif, to keep the cinematic treasure alive. Along with Sharoopji Mistry, he had released the coloured version of the epic film in 2006.
Shahrukh Khan said, "There are lots of such classics in the archive. But being stacked for a long time, the prints and negatives of those timeless films are decaying."
Shahrukh Khan arrived in his Don 2 avatar and when quipped which one of his films would he liked to be called as a classic and later been presented as a documentary for the coming generations for inspiration, the smart Baadshah of Bollywood replied, I dont have the courage to talk about any other film by standing in this platform and I have many more work to do in this industry, but if u insist then please pardon me for being a big mouth then DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge) can be termed as classic in future.
He further added by saying, Classics are not planned and made they just happen.
