'Yeh Saali Zindagi' is the best bet this weekend

With a team comprising of (producer) Prakash Jha, (director) Sudhir Mishra along with Irrfan Khan and Chitrangda Singh, one would have expected a lot more hoopla around 'Yeh Saali Zindagi'. However that didn't quite happen which is pretty surprising considering the fact that whatever one has seen of the film so far, it does look quite interesting to say the least. A romantic drama, it had the potential to find good hype rolling for itself had it been promoted more aggressively. This hasn't been the case though with the promotion being patchy at best.
This would reflect in the opening collections of 'Yeh Saali Zindagi' which is not really a good news because there are five other new releases arriving along with it. Moreover there would be continued competition from 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' and 'Yamla Pagla Deewana' as well. Moreover next week arrives 'Patiala House' which means there is limited window for this film to make an impression.
Nevertheless, it is still the best bet for the audience as the remaining five films appear to be non-starters by all means. Of course Dev Anand is pretty charged about his coloured version of 'Hum Dono' (titled 'Hum Dono Rangeen') but lack of promotion as well as diminished interest amongst audience to actually check out a yesteryear classic on the big screen means that it would be a miracle if the film gets an opening in excess of 20%.
As for the other four releases of the week - 'Tum Hi To Ho', 'Masti Express', 'United Six' and 'Utt Pataang' - even a 20% opening would be a huge bonus as they are practically arriving out of nowhere. One has no clue what 'Tum Hi To Ho' is all about'. Same holds good for 'Masti Express' which is again a star-less affairs. 'United Six' aspires to be 'desi' version of 'Charile's Angels' but hasn't been promoted at all. One does feel bad about 'Utt Pataang' though because with a cast comprising of Vinay Pathak, Mahie Gill, Saurabh Shukla and Sanjay Mishra coupled with a whacky promo, one expected a far better planned out release.
