The film is truly going places and true to its title is enjoying its flight over international skies. Adding one more feather to its plummeted cap, Vikramaditya Motwane's directorial Udaan grabbed several accolades at the Giffoni Film Festival, Italy.
The film reported to have won the Best Audience, Best Music Score awards and bagged second place in the Campania Regional Council Awards based on the results of the juror's votes. Thrilled over the multiple honours, Motwane stated to sources, "I'm honoured and delighted with the three awards that we have won at Giffoni. These are first awards for 'Udaan', hopefully the first of many to come. I'm especially happy for Amit Trivedi and Amitabh Bhattacharya who are the unsung heroes of the film."
Udaan's music is composed brilliantly by music director Amit Trivedi and lyrics by the poetically affluent Amitabh Bhattacharya. Sharing his excitement Trivedi said, Winning the Best Music Score in Giffoni Film Festival, one of world's largest children's film festivals is definitely a matter of pride for me and the entire team of Udaan. Since recent times, International audiences have largely started appreciating Indian music which is very encouraging for music directors like us. This very well proves that our music, is not only loved by our fellow Indians here, but, is also very well received by masses worldwide, meeting global tastes.
The Giffoni International Film Festival is worlds largest childrens film festival in Europe. The fest came to an end on July 31.
Earlier Udaan was selected in the Un Certain Regard category in the Cannes Film Festival.
Udaan is a coming of age film depicting a teenage boy's return home, after being abandoned in a boarding school for eight years. Hes then is forced to live with his authoritarian and oppressive father. The film is co-produced by Anurag Kashyap, Sanjay Singh and UTV Motion Pictures.
