Our birdies have excitedly brought in this juicy news, from the confines of Mani RatnamÂs hot project ÂRaavanÂ. WhatÂs it? Read onÂ
Birdies seem to have probed into the matters concerning Abhishek BachchanÂs character in the film. And while there are many stories revolving around the role, what our birdies found is quite surprising They say that AbhishekÂs character is not only based on RamayanaÂs Raavana but also inspired from real life personality, the Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy! In fact Ghandy has been the real inspiration, more than the mythological character. Birdies heard it that actually the story of the Ramayana is very nicely and intelligently woven into the story of Kobad Ghandy.
Birdies got it from sources that, in ÂRaavan Abhishek play Veera, a naxalite leader of the downtrodden villagers in eastern Madhya Pradesh. Just like GhandyÂs Communist party India-Maoist is banned, AbhishekÂs organisation is also banned in the film. The major difference between the two characters is that while Ghandy is an educated man, AbhishekÂs character is from a small and remote village from Eastern MP.
A fact known, Mani Ratnam loves having a strong element of contemporary history in his films. Earlier in his films, Mani reflected Vardha RajanÂs life in ÂNayakan and Dhirubhai AmbaniÂs life in ÂGuruÂ. Similarly the filmmaker tried to blend real serious issues in films like ÂRojaÂ, ÂDil Se and ÂYuvaÂ.
And we are sure; this time the director will be successful in etching out RaavanaÂs image as wellÂ
