It didn’t take too much to persuade Madhavan to do a movie with his screen idol Jaya Bachchan. But when he bowed out of the production, it was speculated that once Madhavan realized the movie was very woman- centric he didn’t want to do the movie. No doubt, Revathy Sharma’s Chassni has a strong female cast with the likes of Raveena Tandon, Ayesha Takia Azmi and Urvashi Sharma playing pivotal roles, but, did they really scare him off?

According to the actor it was a busy schedule and undecided dates that forced him to drop out of the project. Madhavan, who’s currently flying back and forth between Chennai and Mumbai on projects points out that his priority lies with Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots. He admits that he loved the Chassni script and was excited about the idea of working with Jaya, but the timing was bad. Madhavan was slated to play the role of Ayesha’s supportive husband, who helps her adopt Jaya, an abandoned mother. Director Sharma is left without a hero and the filming for Chassni has started sans a male lead. One wonders where all the men in Bollywood are gone!
