'Chamki' is in placid waters now as Big Pictures have taken over as the financier of the dream project of veteran Shyam Benegal. The Indian screen adaptation of the famed French opera titled "Carmen" created by French musician Geroge Bizet in 1875 has been idling away with Mr. Benegal for sometime now.

According to a buzz, both Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor are being considered for the meaty role of Chamki. Along with the movie's many tribulations in finding the apt producer, the need to zero in on the actress perfect for the title role was also not getting fulfilled. Now it seems that the casting game has started from the scratch all over again.

Long back Kareena was offered the title role, she was heard to be quite exited about the character. Then due to some unknown reasons, the size zero beauty opted out. Then according to some reports Priyanka Chopra was considered to give life to the challenging role. As the concept of the movie sailed through rough weathers aiming to become a reality, Priyanka's name also faded out.

Whether Urmila Matondkar was really considered for the role after Priyanka or whether the news was just a rumour is yetl to be known. Only the coming time will tell whether Shyam Benegal has already made any fresh offers to Priyanka or Kareena.

For the leading heroes and heroines, it is not just the willingness to work under a particular director and be part of an exiting tale that dictates their final decision. Their blocked dates, payment demands etc. are all factors that get in between and demand solution. So the film buffs can also expect to see a totally fresh face being roped in by Mr. Benegal to do the leading character.
