The latest rumour hogging the front pages of Newspapers in India is the report that maverick genius Shekhar Kapoor and singer-actress wife Suchitra Krishnamoorthy are heading towards splitsville. While Shekhar has denied any trouble in the paradise, Suchitra has reportedly stated that it is too painful a subject to really go into.

There are conflicting viewpoints about their relationships. While a few are saying that they have already filed for divorce, there are still others who say that they’ve been living apart for quite some time now. And apparently neither of them can afford a divorce.

Shekhar’s career hasn’t made much headway. In spite of making Oscar nominated ‘Elizabeth’, things went bleak for him after ‘Four Feathers’ for he kept on making new announcements but nothing really materialized. It is being said that his financial situation is such that he can’t afford to pay for alimony or child care for their six year old daughter. Suchitra on her part is going through rough times financially and is fending for herself and her daughter. It’s being said that the tag of Mrs Shekhar Kapoor brings her recognition. If only she had done more films after ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ opposite Shahrukh Khan, she would have had a career of her own.
