In the film industry, there are no permanent friends or enemies. It was proved right when Vivek Oberoi and Arbaz Khan signed Choreographer Ahmed Khan’s next directorial venture Fool and Final recently. If one would jog the memory cells then it won’t take much of an effort to remember that a couple of years ago when Vivek Oberoi called that infamous ‘Press Conference’ where he slammed Salman Khan about pestering him with “41 Calls on the Cell Phone”, Arbaz Khan in an act of save-my-good-brother had hit back at him through the media.

A lot of time has passed by since then. Vivek Oberoi had been the comfort-in-distress beau of Aishwarya Rai during the troubled phase after she parted ways with bad boy Salman Khan. He was a regular feature at the Cannes Festival tagging along with the ‘innocent’ beauty. Although Aishwarya never legitimized their relationship, Vivek seldom lost an opportunity claiming that they were very much in love and shall be tying the knot soon. The upswing in career fortunes of Abhishek Bachchan and Vivek being labeled with duds like Home Delivery, in a swift move, Ash switched loyalties. Oberoi Junior was devastated and he has still not come clean on reasons why he broke up with Rai.

While being the loverboy, Vivek Oberoi had taken his career for granted. After the applause that he got in Company, Saathiya and Masti, his reasons for being optimistic were legitimate, but somehow it’s about sustenance. With Salman Khan Camp against him, a lot of filmmakers were wary of signing him. In a masterstroke, Vivek accompanied his father actor Suresh Oberoi to enquire about the health of Salman’s mother Salma Khan while the later was recuperating in the hospital after listening to the news of Salman’s jail term for five years by a Jodhpur Court. That one act of humility-n-benevolence is responsible for the truce between the two families. And that is the reason why Arbaaz agreed to work with Vivek Oberoi. It remains to be seen what kind of chemistry or camaraderie the two shall share during the making of Fool and Final.
